[[Every action has a reaction]]. That's it. The conditions of the past shape the conditions of the present which shape the conditions of the future. ---- Maybe there is no thread, no causal chain. Maybe everything really is a random cloud of one-off phenomena that have nothing to do with each other. Maybe all the intelligibility that we've found in the universe is the only way life works. But does that make it any less real? If this is our only life, and reality is defined by what actually affects our lives, then the argument is moot. Intelligibility exists for us. It's here and it's real.
